Although most of Chapel Hill is in Orange County, the eastern town limits extend into Durham County. Residents of Chapel Hill in Durham County pay property taxes to Durham County, attend Durham County Schools and are assigned to voting precincts in Durham County in addition to paying property taxes to the Town of Chapel Hill.
